How Much Bigger Can iPhone Hype Get?
Signs suggesting that iPhone hype has reached atmospheric levels:
- Apple stock jumps 4% on Monday on news that the iPhone's battery will last longer than originally expected.
- The Onion reports on some previously unannounced iPhone features. Expect AAPL to be trading up tomorrow. Watch for the first time an analyst cites The Onion in a recommendation.
- Engadget is now offering feeds without Apple/iPhone news.
- The news that Flash wasn't included (thereby precluding access to thousands of applications) came and went. Access to ONE Flash application (YouTube, albeit it's not actually Flash on the iPhone) is now being billed as the iPhone's "killer app" and made headlines everywhere (MSM and blogosphere alike).
- Despite all of this (and my better judgment), I'm still thinking about heading out to an AT&T store next Friday and picking one up.
Signs that it still hasn't peaked:
- No one is lining up yet.
- There aren't any on eBay yet.
